FULL DETAILS OF PROFESSOR SIDI OSHO:

Professor Sidi Osho is the Pioneer and Past Vice Chancellor, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti.

An award winning, Outstanding and hardworking Higher Agriculture & Education Expert that is action and result oriented; an energetic, dynamic and highly productive academic with strong leadership qualities to manage and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary projects was appointed as the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Afe Babalola University in January 2010. She brought a wealth of over thirty years’ experience in administration, strategic planning, International and Private Sector Partnerships,  teaching, research, food security and development to the Institution which brought it to the World Class level in a period of 4 years.

Prof Sidi Osho is from Ijebu Odonselu, Ogun State, Nigeria. Born to the family of Alhaji (Late) A.A.Andu and AlhajaAdedoyinAndu; she attended All Saints Church School, Ibadan between 1962 and 1971 for her primary education before proceeding to St. Teresa’s College, Ibadan for her secondary school education (1971-1976).

In April 1977, she proceeded to Delta College, University Center, United States of America for an Associate Degree in Agriculture. Professor Sidi Osho obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Food Science from Michigan State University, College of Agriculture, USA in June 1980.

She proceeded to Ohio State University, College of Agriculture, USA in December 1981 where she was awarded M.Sc Degree in Food Processing and Technology in September 1982. In January, 1993 she obtained a PhD in Food Processing and Technology at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

Professor Sidi Osho is creative in Agriculture, Food and process development with the ability to communicate with various multicultural backgrounds. She is an Author of several publications in agriculture, food processing, utilization, fortification, nutrition and related fields like tourism and hospitality management. She has demonstrated strong interpersonal skills successfully in both national and international assignments.

She has worked with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan and at the, College of Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural Management and Rural Development, OlabisiOnabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State. She is the current World Vice Chairman of the International Soybean Processing and Utilization in China.

Prof Sidi Osho developed several processing equipment’s for crops and conducted National and International trainings all over the world and collaborates with many scientists in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Togo, Republic of Benin, Senegal, Madagascar in the area of  Education, Agriculture , Food Science, Food Systems, and recently Tourism and Hospitality Management.

She is a member of over 17 professional societies that include both National and International societies.  She has attended over 160 conferences all over the world presenting conference papers in  Higher Education, post-harvest, food processing, Nutrition, Agriculture, Hospitality &Tourism.

She has over 160 publications, some of which are published in learned journal proceedings, monographs, books chapters, training manual etc.

Prof Sidi Osho achievements as Pioneer Vice Chancellor Afe Babalola University

Prof Sidi Osho was appointed Professor and pioneer Vice Chancellor Afe Babalola University Ado – Ekiti in January 2010. Under her Leadership as Vice Chancellor of a new private  University, she ensured the delivery of high quality of education in the institution. Her tenure (January 2010-

January 2014) was characterized by several educational and infrastructural developments. Some these include:

  • Development of Continental Wide curriculum for Undergraduate and Post Graduate students
  • Endowment Funds development for Afe Babalola University
  • Facilitation of Private Sector to funds Research and Development in Afe Babalola University
  • Student enrolment increase from 240 in Jan 2010 – 4000 plus in 2012
  • Added Institutional Requirements to the NUC benchmark of the curriculum

  • Miss Adebayo Adeola, a student of Department of Electrical/Electronics, College of Engineering, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, was on Thursday, October 27, 2011, honoured with a Scholarship Award. The Award for the Best Female Engineering Student was under the aegis of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Ekiti State Chapter.
  • Miss Ebe, Temitayo Abigail, a student in the Department of Accounting, College of Social and Management Sciences, Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), emerged second overall best in West Africa, for Part 1, in the September, 2011, of Accounting Technician Scheme West Africa (ATSWA), organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN). She would be honoured with a Merit Award in December, 2011.
  • Professional student musicians who are on National T.V,  known as “Babtunes” and  “Hamzy West” both 200 level Students.
  • Infrastructural Development  increased in ABUAD and this include:
  • An ultra modern College of Law Building with 1500 sitting capacity auditorium, ultra modern library, moot court, law clinic, lecture rooms and offices for staff.
  • The multi-purpose hall with 7,000 sitting capacity
  • Male & Female hostels consisting of 7000 bed spaces each
  • One block of two bedroom staff quarters consisting of 24 flats
  • One block of one bedroom staff quarters consisting of 36 flats these are in the addition to the existing three bedroom 72 flats, all fully occupied
  • Two  ultra modern cafeterias  with 1,500 sitting capacity each

Water supply- To ensure steady water supply, a 240,000 liters capacity underground  storage facility for  water was installed. 


Roads  -A 5.5 kilometer earth road has been constructed to link the farm with main road from Ado-Ekiti to the University. One big culvert and an expansive bridge have also been constructed to link the University with the farm.

Electricity- Provision of electricity supply from PHCN and other sources which include solar power, generators etc

Land Acquisition and farming- The University has acquired additional 1,000 hectares of land for large scale mechanized agricultural activities.

Prof Sidi Osho has become involved in several initiates to improve quality of lives of people and communities and our Nation; Thus the founding of Sidi Osho Foundation (SOF). With a vision of providing a world of equal opportunities for women, youths, families and communities through empowerment for the realization and maximization of their potentials towards a better future, and receiving an award in respect of all she has done this suggests that she has succeeded a bit.

  • SOF is contributing to the growth of human development and alleviating poverty in African development initiatives which  include;  Education, Entrepreneurship, Food Security, Leadership and Governance, Health, Sustainable development and most importantly, Youth,Gender and Women Empowerment.

  • Youth, Gender and Women Empowerment:
  • Prof Sidi Osho and SOF strive to promote an environment where young women are mentored to create their own opportunities for life success. Her project focuses skills, enterprise and leadership training in order to improve the life of youth and women. Also  in eradicating social and cultural factors affecting women and children; stabilizing and enhancing family structures and relationships, in order to promote discipline, leadership, and support projects such as, “Girl-Child Scheme”. Under this scheme is the ‘’girls mentoring club,’’ where young women are encouraged to become role models to their peers while contributing to the quality of life in our Nation. Consequently this scheme was created to increase young women’s self-worth, improve their perspective towards education, help to develop and define their goals and help them become self- sufficient, motivated adults that will give back to our nation Nigeria.
  • SOF is actively involved in establishment of Enterprise Hubs for Youth and Women through Skills, Enterprise and Leadership program which ensures active participation in certified training in Nigeria and in partnership Countries and then the release of funds for enterprise and economic development..
  • Member of Board of African Infrastructure Development Partnership (AFIDEP). 
  • AFIDEP is Swedish based non- profit organization is working with African Governments, public and private sector to accelerate development and economic development through partnerships and investment opportunities.
  • The aim of AFIDEP is to create wealth by facilitating networking and interaction with other stakeholders in the world with the aim of reducing un- employment, poverty, unrest and encouraging empowerment through collaboration. To this end Prof Sidi Osho coordinates all activities for Nigeria and is ensuring that more funds is released for Nigerian projects in all sectors of the economy.  With the up- coming African Development Investment Convention (ADIC) 2016, Nigeria will present more profiles from the public and private sector  for development of the our economy with the hope to reduce poverty, create jobs, empower more Nigerians and establish more business hubs. There would be more emphasis on women led business opportunities.
  • SOF ( Sidi Osho Foundation) organized on 21st July 2016 an African Regional Forum a Pre-Event of the 2nd African Development Investment Convention 20-21, Oct 2016, Kloten – Zh, Switzerland.
