ENGR. Dr.(MRS.) MARTHA ODION RANDA IKHALO , FNSE,FNSCh.E In a society where the ability of women to reach certain heights is often questioned, Engr (Mrs.) Martha Odion Ikhalo’s attainment on her career (which is hitherto seen as an exclusive preserve for men) has redefined the age-long maxim that "what a man can do, a woman can do even better". One of the most highly Engineering technocrats in Africa is Engr (Mrs.) Martha Odion Ikhalo, the Managing Partner of Subim International Limited. She is a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and a Professional Engineer. She is a First Class graduate of Chemical Engineering from the University of Timis, Roma in Europe in 1983. Her undying love for the quest of knowledge spurred her to obtain a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1986. Engr. (Mrs.) Ikhalo belongs to several professional bodies: She is a Fellow in the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE); Fellow, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (FNSCh.E); Fellow, Association of Professional Women Engineers in Nigeria (FAPWEN); Fellow, Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators (FIPMA); Fellow, Institute of Information Management (FIIM), Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), a Chartered Management Consultant (CMC)and a registered Engineer (R.Eng.) by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 1998. She did her mandatory National Youth Service at NNPC, Kaduna Refinery where she served and worked as a Production Programmer between 1983 and 1985. Later on, she joined Delta Steel Company, Aladja in Warri and National Fertilizer Company of Nigeria (NAFCON) now Notore Chemical Industries Plc, Onne in Rivers where she worked as Senior Process Engineer from 1987 to 1993 respectively. She was Manager Planning, Statistics and Budgetary Control in Foreign Purchasing/International Distribution and Export Division of NAFCON, from 1993-1999. She has been the Managing Director/Proncipal Partner of SUBIM International Limited from year 2000 till date. She has published in local and international journals, some of which include: NAFCON Granular Urea as Raw Material for Bulk Blending; Responsibilities of the Budget Function in a Manufacturing Plant; Design and Construction of Polyethylene Recycling Plant for Waste Management; Women in Chemical Engineering/Challenges and Career prospects; Engineering as a Noble Profession and the Roles of Professional Managers in a Dynamic Environment. After many years of cognate experience, Engr.Dr. (Mrs.) Ikhalo is the Chief Executive Officer of Subim International Limited – certified by COREN since 2009 to operate in the areas of Civil, Electrical and Chemical Engineering. Subim also specializes in facility maintenance management, construction/fabrication, consultancy services on project design/supervision, installation and local/foreign procurement of spare parts with clients such as Total (E&P) Nig. Ltd., Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rivers State Government, PRODECO, NPA, and other public and private establishments. Engr.Dr. (Mrs.) Ikhalo has held distinctive positions, namely: Member, School Enlightenment Committee; Nigerian, Society of Chemical Engineers (NSCh.E), National Member, Welfare Committee (NSCh.E); Technical Secretary, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE); Chairman Welfare Committee, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE); Chairman, Career Development Committee (NSCh.E); Vice Chairman, PTA Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Borokiri, Port Harcourt (2003 - 2007); Member, Political Sensitization Forum Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE); Member, LOC (NSCh.E) AGM/ 47th Annual Conference Garden City; Chairmen Exhibition Sub-Committee, AGM/ 47th Annual Conference of NSCh.E, Garden City in 2017; Treasurer, (NSCh.E) in 2018; Member, Engineering Week Committee Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Chairperson, Association of Professional Women Engineers in Nigeria (APWEN) in 2018. In recognition of her contributions to national development in the field of engineering services through dint of hard work, Engr Dr. (Mrs.) Ikhalo has received several awards to her credit, namely: Most Active Female Engineer Award by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in 2017; Most Active Female Engineer Award by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in 2018 and she was enlisted into the prestigious Construction and Engineering Hall of Fame on the 27th September, 2019. Mrs. Ikhalo, a Chemical Engineer by profession, who has had over 30 years post qualification experience with exceptional success in the fields of Engineering, Administration, Business and Management, is married to Pastor Sylvester Ikhalo. They are blessed with wonderful children who among them are Engineers, Medical Doctors and Bankers.
